Request for Proposals (RFP): Business Coach for WEPOWER Business Accelerator RFP Title: Business Coach – WEPOWER Business Accelerator Issue Date: June 12, 2025 Submission Deadline: June 19, 2025 Location: St. Louis, Missouri (Virtual and In-Person Participation Required) Engagement Type: Contract Position Reports to: Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) About WEPOWER WEPOWER is a community-driven organization committed to building community wealth and racial equity in St. Louis. We activate and elevate entrepreneurs, community leaders, and changemakers of color, working together to reimagine and reshape systems that have historically excluded and underserved our communities. Opportunity Summary WEPOWER is seeking experienced and equity-focused Business Coaches to support participants in the WEPOWER Business Accelerator. Coaches will play a key role in providing strategic guidance, accountability, and social-emotional support to founders as they work to grow sustainable, community-minded businesses. Coaches will work closely with each assigned entrepreneur, helping them build and reach their S.M.A.R.T. goals related to growth, financing, hiring, and community impact. This role is ideal for individuals with deep experience in entrepreneurship, coaching, and a strong commitment to racial equity. This is a time-bound engagement from July–October 2025 with both virtual and in-person components, including collaboration with the WEPOWER team and cohort members in the All Industries and/or Construction tracks. Scope of Work Each Coach will be responsible for: 1. Bi-Weekly 1:1 Coaching Sessions Facilitate 1 to 1.5-hour coaching sessions every two weeks with each assigned entrepreneur/company Customize support based on each company’s goals, stage, and business needs Serve as a thought partner and provide support in: Strategic planning and problem-solving Achieving operational and financial benchmarks Building professional networks Supporting emotional well-being Racial equity-centered business decisions 2. Reporting and Communication Submit coaching notes within one week of each session using a WEPOWER-provided template Conduct monthly check-ins with WEPOWER’s Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) to provide progress updates and flag concerns or successes Collaborate with the EIR to ensure alignment with the broader accelerator program 3. Engagement with WEPOWER Ecosystem Attend the Accelerator Kick-Off session Monitor and attend relevant cohort training sessions if applicable to stay informed of program content and context Leverage personal tools and frameworks while aligning with WEPOWER’s community wealth building and equity-centered values 4. Equity-Centered Coaching Actively encourage founders to reflect on and implement racial equity strategies that benefit both their business and the broader community Challenge companies to consider “win-win” decisions that create shared value for their stakeholders and neighborhoods Qualifications Demonstrated experience coaching or mentoring entrepreneurs Strong understanding of small business operations, growth strategy, and capital readiness Ability to support both strategic goals and emotional resilience Deep commitment to racial equity and social justice Familiarity with the St. Louis/Missouri small business ecosystem is a plus Effective communicator, proactive collaborator, and values-aligned thought partner Proposal Requirements Interested applicants must submit the following: Cover Letter outlining experience and approach to coaching entrepreneurs Resume or Organizational Overview (if applying as a firm/consultancy) Coaching Philosophy and Approach, including strategies for racial equity integration Fee Structure, listed as an hourly rate This can all be captured in your organization's one-pager Evaluation Criteria Proposals will be reviewed based on: Experience in business coaching and entrepreneurial development Alignment with WEPOWER’s values and mission Demonstrated racial equity lens Quality and relevance of coaching approach Proposed compensation and availability
