We’re in the earliest concept phase and assembling a small team to help us design and test our first prototype system. We’re looking for a 3D scanning engineer who can help us make the scanning process reliable, clean, and fast. We’re currently evaluating multiple hardware options — and we want your help shaping the right configuration and output pipeline. Role Overview: You will lead the scanning and mesh prep workflow — helping us: Evaluate scanning options (Revopoint, photogrammetry, Kinect, etc.) Calibrate multi-scanner configurations for full-body capture Design a reliable scan + export routine that’s operator-free Define how STL or OBJ files should be cleaned, decimated, or cropped before print Document scanning environment (lighting, distance, backdrop) and constraints Key Responsibilities: Recommend and test different hardware setups for full-body human scanning Help mount and align scanning rigs for consistent output Define optimal scan resolution, frame rate, and mesh integrity Create a basic documentation package: scanning spec, lighting setup, export routine Help ensure that the output files are consistently printable (water-tight, aligned, etc.) Qualifications: Required: 2+ years experience working with 3D scanning systems (structured light, depth sensors, photogrammetry, etc.) Understanding of STL/OBJ mesh processing and scan cleanup workflows Familiarity with scanner SDKs or GUI tools (e.g., RevoScan, Artec Studio, Metashape, etc.) Able to consult on scanner selection and tradeoffs Nice to Have: Experience scanning real humans in live settings (retail, medical, fashion, XR) Experience designing custom scanning rigs (multi-camera, tripod-mounted, mobile booths) Familiar with 3D printing requirements for watertightness and wall thickness Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Computer Vision, or equivalent experience working hands-on with scanning technology What You’ll Get: Real influence over how this product is shaped from day one Freedom to recommend and test the tools you believe will work Opportunity to stay on in an advisory or iterative testing role as we grow A paid contract and creative ownership over the scanning experience design To Apply: submit cover letter/proposal
