Sr. UI/UX Designer with Shopify Expertise Freelance – 100% Remote Job Summary: You will be responsible for completing assorted user experience and user interface design projects with a specific focus on Shopify. This individual will be responsible for a wide range of creative & production projects, taking direction from both written and spoken ideas, and converting them seamlessly into concepts, images, and layouts, while being a trusted advisor on the consumer experience, particularly on Shopify platforms. Main Responsibilities: Design Shopify-based digital experiences, as well as experiences on other platforms, for a variety of manufacturers and distributors' customer bases. Conduct UI/UX audits, determine target personas, and deliver comprehensive presentations, ensuring all interactions on Shopify and other platforms are intuitive and easy to navigate. Conduct competitor analysis to gain insights into their Shopify products, sales, best practices, and marketing tactics. Evaluate/understand customer behaviors, motivations, and friction/pain points on Shopify websites and collaboratively map digital platform customer journeys. Generate and present wireframes, low and high-fidelity mockups, interactive prototypes, and behavioral specifications, with an emphasis on Shopify projects. Maintain accessibility standards and set interactivity standards across Shopify stores and other platforms. Work cross-functionally to leverage customer data to help drive personalization across Shopify and other digital customer touchpoints, continually adopting new and innovative technologies. Document functional requirements for proposed new Shopify website features, and support Q&A testing. Iterate based on stakeholder feedback and deliver design requests to meet key timelines and milestones. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field required. Must provide a design portfolio showcasing proven expertise and involvement in creating high-performance creative for brands/companies, including Shopify projects and B2B experience. 4+ years of UX experience, with 3+ years of specific experience working on Shopify platforms. Possess strong knowledge of Figma or similar tools. Expertise in current graphic design tools like Adobe CC Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), Sketch, InVision, Microsoft Office, and Google collaboration applications. Motion graphic or video editing applications are a plus. Strong knowledge of web and mobile design and web user experiences, particularly within the Shopify ecosystem. Basic HTML & web development experience is preferred. Proven strong visual design execution, excellent typography & layout skills, and a keen eye for details and brand identity systems. Understanding of the latest trends in digital channels for both B2B and B2C brands, particularly within Shopify stores. Preferred: High levels of autonomy & self-motivation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to drive and implement enhancements through test-and-learn and best practices. Experience with WordPress, Webflow, Squarespace, or equivalent. Experience working with Atlassian/Jira (or similar project management software). Experience with Slack or similar platforms.
