We empower small businesses to make smarter decisions and grow sustainably. The Role We’re hiring a Contract Machine Learning Engineer to build the intelligence layer behind Shwcase. You’ll develop models that match brands with the right spaces, forecast demand, and surface insights from fragmented data sources (POS systems, customer behaviors, space characteristics, etc.). This is a high-impact role where your work will directly inform core product features. Key Responsibilities Design and implement machine learning models to power: Brand-to-space and space-to-brand matching Customer segmentation using historical and real-time sales data Predictive analytics on location performance and sales lift Build demand forecasting and procurement optimization models Ingest, clean, and process data from diverse POS systems and third-party tools Prototype, test, and iterate quickly using small datasets and generalization techniques (e.g., shrinkage, Bayesian methods) Translate business needs into data-driven solutions in collaboration with the founding team Qualifications 3+ years of experience building and deploying machine learning models in production Strong Python skills; familiarity with libraries like scikit-learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow, or PyTorch Experience with real-world, messy datasets—particularly in retail, POS, or customer analytics Exposure to recommendation systems, segmentation models, or optimization algorithms Comfort working with minimal initial data; strong understanding of model interpretability Strong communicator who can collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Bonus: experience in marketplace dynamics, causal inference, or geospatial data Contract Structure Engagement Type: Contract (project-based or part-time ongoing) Start Date: Immediate Compensation: Competitive, commensurate with experience Potential for extended work or full-time transition depending on fit and funding Why Shwcase?
