We are seeking an experienced full-stack PHP developer to handle new feature developments and regular monthly updates for API data service. Our immediate need is to modify our existing application to support multi-region MySQL database configurations, focusing on improving resilience and reducing latency for API-related operations. Our current application uses a single MySQL database configuration for all operations. However, as we scale across multiple geographical regions, we’re encountering latency and instability due to real-time MySQL replication over the internet. We’re restructuring our architecture to: 1. Route API/lookup-related transactions to regional MySQL databases (local to the region). 2. Continue using the existing centralized MySQL database for all other operations (e.g., billing, reporting, account login). 3. Ensure that API functionality remains operational even during outages of the central database. A database engineer on our team will handle syncing the local database transactions to the central database, so your primary responsibility will be implementing logic in the PHP codebase to: 1. Route API-related database operations to a new regional DB configuration. 2. Route all other operations to the existing central DB configuration. 3. Ensure smooth fallback behavior and graceful handling in case the central DB is unreachable.
