Background: 30% of hospitalizations last year were for a mental health crisis. Unfortunately, 40% of these patients are readmitted within 30 days. However, connecting a patient with outpatient behavioral health within 7-30 days of discharge has been demonstrated to decrease the chances of readmission by 50%. MASLOW Health, INC is a SAAS corporation that partners with hospitals and outpatient behavioral health clinics to bridge the gap after discharge from an inpatient stay for a mental health crisis. MASLOW provides patients with an AI tool based on contingency management and self-determination theory to encourage patients to attend post-discharge follow-up appointments and continue treatment. Thereby, MASLOW decreases readmission for mental health crisis, generates revenue for outpatient clinics, and diminishes the mortality rate owing to mental health. Project Need: We are seeking to redesign our platform's user interface and user experience to optimize our clinical workflow and ease the manner that patients engage with the various features of MASLOW. We are seeking aesthetically intuitive mockups and wireframes to allow our internal development team to complete interface updates. Team: Our team is led by MD PhD physicians at UNC Chapel Hill and UTSW. Our team has engineers from Virginia Tech and external partnerships. Details of the Role: We are seeking to add a culturally aware user interface/experience developer to help our team design wireframes for the MASLOW tool that are intuitive and favorable for our target patient population. You will work directly alongside our CEO and CTO with guided input from patient focus groups and our team's clinical expertise to design a set of wireframes. These wireframes should be designed in a manner that allows for easy interoperability into a fully developed platform that interfaces with our current suite of software languages and integrations. This role will be expected to perform product research from literature and similar products to provide rationale for the design choices provided. This role will be granted creative freedom to present forward a unique interpretation of the design based on our previous design, the need we seek to meet, and the company's culture. Expectations: This role will meet with our core team and development team once weekly. Communication will occur primarily through Slack. We work hard to provide a corporate culture of respect, compassion, and equity, we expect that all employees and contractors do the same. Our founding team would like this role to transition into a part-time or full-time role with opportunities for equity and pay depending on the success of this project. Deliverables: Payment will be provided in three milestones. Milestone 1: A user experience workflow that captures each aspect of the clinic and user experience. Milestone 2: A set of wireframes in Figma that display this workflow, and the aesthetics needed to convey the desired tone. It is required that this role provide rationale supported by other platforms, literature, etc. that support the design choices made here. Milestone 3: Ensuring interoperability with our current system. Skills: -Python (some) -Figma - Design Thinking -Graphic Design - Working with diverse teams Timing: 2-3 weeks. 7-10 hours per week. Weekly meeting can be flexible.
