Project Overview: We are seeking an experienced, research-driven ghostwriter to help craft a groundbreaking book that exposes the dark corners of the credit card processing industry — a system riddled with hidden fees, middlemen, and institutional opacity — and charts a course toward reform. This is a powerful blend of investigative journalism, industry deep dive, and practical guidance. The book will be designed to educate and empower business owners, influence policymakers, and spark conversations across fintech, retail, and payments industries. You’ll be working directly with a successful fintech entrepreneur and founder who has spent over 15 years in the industry, built and exited multiple ventures, and now seeks to catalyze real change. What We’re Looking For: You are an exceptional writer with the ability to: - Turn complex technical and financial topics into accessible, captivating content - Create narrative momentum while staying factually grounded - Match and elevate the author’s voice and vision - Interview industry players and synthesize research into compelling chapters You’re part investigative reporter, part business strategist, part creative storyteller — and completely obsessed with clarity, structure, and tone. Key Responsibilities: - Collaborate with the author to outline and structure the book (10 chapters + introduction and epilogue) - Conduct interviews with merchants, insiders, experts, and other stakeholders (scheduling help will be provided) - Analyze existing material and research reports provided by the author - Independently research relevant topics: interchange, ISOs, surcharging, Visa/MC, regulatory landscape, embedded payments, etc. - Write chapter drafts, incorporating the author's feedback in iterative stages - Maintain consistency in voice, pacing, and clarity throughout - Deliver a polished manuscript (~75,000 words) - Coordinate with editors, designers, and publishing partners (as needed) Qualifications: - 5+ years of ghostwriting, long-form journalism, or business authorship experience - Portfolio of published books or ghostwritten works (samples required) - Experience writing about finance, fintech, SaaS, or regulatory systems is highly preferred - Strong interviewing and research skills - Proven ability to manage a large project from start to finish with minimal oversight Bonus: Experience in publishing, self-publishing, or book marketing Engagement Details: Start Date: Immediate or flexible within 30 days - Duration: 4–6 months project (with potential follow-up for promotional content) - Compensation: Competitive flat project fee - Location: Remote - Commitment: Part-time or full-time — flexible based on your process and availability Why This Book Matters: This is more than a writing project — it’s a mission to bring light to a broken industry that quietly extracts billions from small businesses. This book will be quoted, referenced, and shared. We want someone who’s just as fired up about this topic as we are and can help make it accessible, viral, and actionable. IMPORTANT. Please ask any questions needed to determine the full estimated cost range before applying.
