Project Overview An arresting, sensory-rich, live and interactive experience, Sonic Sunset takes its audience on a collective journey, asking us to abandon our human-centered worlds and to enter instead into the lives and ecosystems of three distinct, endangered species. Through field notes and field recordings made by bio-acousticians with support from local communities, Sonic Sunset is designed to transport us beneath the waves, into the oceanic home of the humpback whale; up into the treetop nests of the orangutans of Borneo; and, finally, high above the Western Ghats of India where birds sonically narrate the story of human impact on the entire ecosystem.
