About the Role: We are looking for an experienced RFP writer with excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ideal writer is a highly motivated, detail-oriented team player who thrives in a deadline-driven environment. This position will work with the sales team and internal subject-matter experts. This is a project-based role; when we have active RFPs, hours will range from 10 to 25 hours per week, depending on the current workload. We are looking for the right person with the flexibility to work with us in an ongoing capacity. What You’ll Work On: • Write business proposals in response to requests for proposals (RFPs) from the private, public, and government sectors • Work collaboratively with internal partners and subject-matter experts to obtain necessary information and ensure content is accurate for proposal responses • Meet proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information-gathering, writing, editing, review, and approval • Maintain quality work product by writing and developing up-to-date proposal responses • Adhere to proposal-writing standards, including consistency, accuracy, branding, and tone • Possibly research additional RFP opportunities that are a good fit for our company and services Essential Skills and Experience: • Skilled at writing clear, concise, compelling, accurate, and grammatically correct copy • Highly organized with utmost attention to detail • Experience working collaboratively as part of a team • Strong research, analysis, and problem-solving skills • Ability to learn new subject matter quickly and think outside the box • Ability to think critically and deliver in what can be a fast-paced environment • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines, effectively prioritizing projects • Ability to change direction quickly and comfortably and handle uncertainty/make decisions when information is not available • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat Pro is required • Experience with RFPIO/Responsive or other RFP management systems is appreciated but not mandatory What Your Background Likely Includes: • 3–5 years of proven experience writing proposals in response to RFPs • At least a bachelor’s degree in English, writing, communications, journalism, or related field is required Other Qualities That Should Describe You: • Positive and plays well with others — collaborating with other people is key • Harnesses creativity into writing professional but dynamic content • Excels under deadlines (no, but really) • Flexible, resourceful, and self-motivated • Exudes a “can-do” attitude at every juncture • Gracefully receives and implements constructive feedback and guidance
