Ghostwriter (Contract-to-Full-Time) — The 1 and Only Are you a skilled and versatile writer with a passion for bringing other people’s stories to life? The 1 and Only, a Christian-based publishing and storytelling company, is looking for experienced ghostwriters to join our growing team. Position: Contract Ghostwriter (Potential for Full-Time) Pay: $100 per chapter (3,000 words or less) Schedule: Minimum 1 chapter per week Location: Remote About Us At The 1 and Only, we believe everyone has a story worth telling. Our unique process involves recording clients as they speak chapter by chapter, capturing their authentic voice and message. We then turn those recordings into compelling, professionally written manuscripts. As a Christian-based company, we often work with stories that include faith-based content, and we are looking for writers who are comfortable and confident writing about God. What You'll Do Ghostwrite chapters based on client voice recordings (provided via our proprietary software) Maintain the client's voice, tone, and message throughout the manuscript Edit and polish your own work to ensure high standards of quality Meet strict weekly deadlines and manage your own workflow independently Adapt writing style to suit various genres, including nonfiction, memoir, spiritual, business, and more Communicate as needed with our editorial team to ensure alignment with project goals Required Qualifications Proven experience in ghostwriting or professional writing Proficient in all types of editing, including: Developmental Editing Substantive (Structural) Editing Line Editing Copyediting Proofreading Ability to deliver a minimum of 1 chapter (or ~3,000 words) per week Strong storytelling skills with the ability to retain someone else’s voice and intent Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines without micromanagement Published writing samples required (ghostwritten or credited) Comfortable writing Christian and faith-based content Flexible and open to writing across multiple genres Excellent communication and time management skills Bonus Experience working with recorded/transcribed content Background in ministry, counseling, or personal development Previous ghostwriting experience with faith-based authors Willingness to take on more chapters or accelerated schedules when needed Compensation $100 per chapter (up to 3,000 words) Rate increases available based on experience, writing quality, and consistency Contract position with strong potential for full-time employment based on performance Ready to help bring someone’s story to life?
