ACM Queue, a bimonthly magazine targeted at the software engineering community, is actively searching for an Acquisitions Editor who can work to cultivate and manage relationships with current authors and author candidates. The role also involves close collaboration with the magazine’s Executive Editor, its Production Editor, and an active Editorial Board that includes many industry luminaries. In addition to coordinating and facilitating the work of authors who primarily have made their names as software engineers, this role involves: • Overseeing the production of 4-5 articles per issue, which will involve reviewing, editing, and trafficking drafts, copyedits, layouts, and correction cycles with authors. • Staying current with industry trends and research developments so as to help in identifying potential topics and guest experts in keeping with ACM Queue’s publication goals. • Collaboration not only with colleagues on the editorial staff but also with members of the magazine’s editorial board This position calls for someone who shows initiative and can demonstrate strong editorial judgment. The people we regularly work with are leaders in various systems and software arenas whose respect must be earned. But, for all that, the work is rewarding and comes with the opportunity to regularly interact with people who are not only leaders in the field of computing but also major actors in the global economy. Please send resume, cover letter, and hourly pay requirements.
