Fractional SEO Specialist Needed for E-commerce & B2B

Description:

Who we are: Forge Digital Marketing is an agency specializing in serving e-commerce brands in the health, nutrition, and supplement industries. We have over a decade of experience delivering high value and helping our clients scale and achieve their sales targets through evidence-based strategies. Forge maintains a strong internal culture of respect, creativity and teamwork, providing our high-performing staff with the autonomy to bring their new ideas to bear as we grow and expand as an agency. About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Fractional SEO Specialist for an internal delivery role focused on designing and executing comprehensive SEO initiatives for multiple e-commerce and B2B projects. You will act as the technical expert, driving SEO strategy and execution across a range of accounts, with a special focus on aligning informational, commercial, and transactional keywords to the appropriate stages of each funnel. As a fractional contractor, you will work closely with developers, designers, content writers, and other internal stakeholders. While you will provide guidance on content strategy and best practices, you will not be responsible for writing copy or leading most client-facing sessions. Your primary mission is to deliver measurable SEO improvements by leveraging your expertise in on-page, off-page, and technical SEO. Key Responsibilities Technical SEO Strategy & Delivery: Develop and maintain SEO roadmaps for e-commerce and B2B projects, ensuring each account has a clear, actionable plan for optimizing informational, commercial, and transactional search queries. Serve as the go-to expert for technical optimization, including site architecture, site speed, crawlability, and structured data. Collaborate with the internal team to prioritize and implement SEO tasks, ensuring timely delivery across multiple accounts. Keyword Research & On-Page Optimization Conduct comprehensive keyword research for e-commerce product pages, service pages, and blog posts—classifying terms by informational, commercial, and transactional intent. Optimize on-page elements—titles, meta descriptions, headers, schema markup, keyword mapping—ensuring each page targets the appropriate keyword intent to maximize search visibility and user engagement. Make recommendations for content updates (without direct copywriting) to address potential gaps across the funnel, from top-of-funnel informational pieces to bottom-of-funnel transactional content. Oversee image compression and other technical measures to improve page load speed and user experience. Technical Audits & Issue Resolution Perform regular site audits to identify and address technical bottlenecks such as crawl errors, broken links, indexing challenges, and mobile usability issues. Work with developers to fix or refine site architecture, canonical tags, structured data implementations, and other key technical elements for all keyword types. Monitor ongoing technical concerns and quickly troubleshoot any new issues that arise. Content Strategy Advisory: Collaborate with content creators to align editorial plans with keyword intent—ensuring top-of-funnel informational topics, mid-funnel commercial topics, and bottom-of-funnel transactional topics are covered. Review and provide feedback on content drafts, ensuring alignment with search intent, brand voice, and SEO best practices. Contribute to editorial calendars by pinpointing crucial informational, commercial, and transactional queries to guide content direction. Foundational Link Building & Off-Page SEO: Establish and maintain a solid backlink foundation through ethical, white-hat link-building methods (e.g., citations, competitor backlink analysis, guest posting). Ensure off-page efforts appropriately support each stage of the funnel—highlighting commercial or transactional pages in outreach where relevant. Keep accurate records of link-building activities, ensuring compliance with Google’s guidelines and consistent brand representation. Online Reputation & Google Business Posting: If applicable, support internal teams managing Google Business Profiles, ensuring accurate listings and periodic posts tailored to local search intent. Monitor brand mentions and reputation factors, alerting the team to potential issues or opportunities for improvement. Performance Tracking & Reporting: Use Google Analytics, Search Console, and SEO tools (SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz, Screaming Frog) to track keyword rankings, organic traffic, CTRs, and conversions segmented by informational, commercial, and transactional queries. Contribute to clear client performance reporting, highlighting wins, challenges, and strategic adjustments. Adapt and refine SEO tactics based on performance data, algorithm changes, or evolving industry trends. Required Qualifications & Experience - 3–5+ years of professional SEO experience, particularly in e-commerce and B2B contexts, with the ability to demonstrate success in these roles based on key SEO metrics (improving organic traffic, keyword rankings, and conversions (case studies or references a plus). - Skilled in site audits, crawlability, site speed optimization, and structured data management. - Expert knowledge of metadata best practices, schema markup, keyword placement, and page structure. - Proficient with Google Analytics, Search Console, and SEO software (e.g., SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz). - Ability to analyze user intent and classify keywords into informational, commercial, and transactional categories to optimize pages accordingly. - Background in devising and implementing ethical link-building strategies. - Familiarity with reviewing backlink profiles, competitor analysis, and domain authority improvements. - Capable of managing multiple SEO initiatives simultaneously across different e-commerce accounts. - Organized, detail-oriented, and skilled at prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment. - Stays informed on search engine algorithm updates, advanced SEO tactics, and industry shifts. - Willing to adopt new methodologies or tools based on data-driven insights and evolving project requirements. What We Offer Remote work arrangement: work remotely while joining a vibrant team serving a large base of clients. Diverse Internal Projects: Work on varied e-commerce and B2B platforms, offering complex and dynamic SEO challenges. Professional Growth: Sharpen your technical, analytical, and intent-based keyword strategy skills in a supportive environment that values data-driven outcomes. Graduation into full time position: Upon the successful performance of multiple fractional projects, Forge will make a full-time in-house SEO position(s) available. Forge Your Future with Us!
