Project Description We are looking for a detail-oriented researcher or data specialist to help us identify which Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) are used by specific U.S. employers. The project involves triangulating data from various sources to determine PBM relationships at the employer level. You’ll be working with a combination of public data (like Form 5500s), subscription-based tools (e.g., Judy Diamond Associates, MMIT), and other sources (e.g., benefits guides, plan websites, or public filings). What We’re Trying to Understand For a given employer (e.g., Walmart, PepsiCo, etc.), which PBM (e.g., CVS Caremark, OptumRx, Express Scripts) manages their pharmacy benefits? Scope of Work 1. Identify employer health plan details using Form 5500 data (e.g., from Judy Diamond or similar tools) 2. Determine the carrier or TPA (e.g., UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, etc.) 3. Infer or confirm PBM used, either: - Directly (if named in filings), or - Indirectly (by identifying the health plan and matching to a PBM via MMIT or public data) 4. Document findings with source links or evidence (e.g., filings, screenshots, public URLs) 5. (Optional/Bonus): Suggest scalable approaches to continue this research across large employer lists Ideal Candidate Will Have - Experience with Form 5500 filings or benefits research - Familiarity with PBM and health plan structures - Access to or experience with tools like Judy Diamond Associates, MMIT, FreeERISA, or similar - Strong web research and data organization skills - Ability to work with minimal supervision and provide actionable, sourced insights Deliverables A spreadsheet of employers with the following columns: - Employer Name - Health Plan Carrier/TPA - Plan Type (Self-Funded or Fully Insured) - Identified or Inferred PBM - Confidence Level (High/Medium/Low) - Source(s) or Evidence Please message me with any clarification questions!
