Part-Time Bookkeeper (Remote) – Homeward Communities | West Michigan Location: Remote (Company based in West Michigan – Serving the Grand Rapids MSA) Position Type: Part-Time, Independent Contractor Industry: Property Management (Multifamily, Residential & Commercial) Homeward Communities is a West Michigan-based property management company serving the Grand Rapids metropolitan area. We manage a diverse portfolio of multifamily, residential, and commercial assets and are looking for a skilled, tech-savvy Bookkeeper with AppFolio expertise to support our monthly financial operations. Role Overview: As our Bookkeeper, you'll be responsible for monthly reconciliation across our properties, generating finalized reports, and collaborating directly with the owner. This position is fully remote and ideal for someone highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in property management accounting. Key Responsibilities: - Perform monthly reconciliations in AppFolio for all assets under management - Complete reconciliations and deliver finalized monthly reports by the 10th of each month - Use Google Drive to organize and share documents and reports - Create spreadsheets listing open questions or flagged issues after reconciliation - Communicate via email, Google Meet/Zoom, and Loom videos as needed - Join a monthly video meeting with the owner to review financials and address questions - Respond promptly to follow-ups and update books as needed Time Commitment (Estimated Monthly): 2–3 hours: Reconciliation in AppFolio 1–2 hours: Reviewing questions and updating books 1 hour: Monthly report review meeting with the owner Ideal Candidate: Experienced with AppFolio and property management accounting Highly organized and detail-oriented Comfortable with remote communication tools (Google Workspace, Zoom, Loom, etc.) Tech-forward and efficient in using spreadsheets and cloud file systems Responsive and proactive in communication Able to consistently meet deadlines with minimal oversight We look forward to hearing from professionals who share our commitment to excellence, transparency, and clear communication.
