Job Description: Voice Narrator for Audiobook Position Title: Audiobook Voice Narrator Location: Remote Contract Type: Freelance/Contract Duration: Project-based (varies depending on length of audiobook) Position Overview: We are looking for a dynamic and professional voice narrator to record and produce the audiobook version of a manuscript. The ideal candidate will have a clear, engaging voice, excellent diction, and the ability to bring characters and narratives to life through vocal performance. The narrator will be responsible for reading the text aloud in an expressive manner, maintaining consistent pacing and tone, and adhering to any specific direction provided by the production team. Key Responsibilities: Narration: Read and narrate the audiobook manuscript clearly and with expression. Perform various character voices (if applicable) with consistency and personality. Adjust tone, pitch, and pacing to suit the mood, context, and genre of the material. Maintain vocal stamina and clarity for long recording sessions. Audio Quality: Ensure the audio is of high quality, free from background noise, distortion, or interruptions. Edit or provide raw recordings to the production team as required, ensuring consistency in volume levels and clarity. Meet project-specific audio standards (e.g., file format, bit rate, and sound quality). Collaboration: Work closely with the author to ensure the vision and tone of the audiobook match the intended outcome. Take direction and feedback professionally, making adjustments to narration style as needed. Maintain consistent communication throughout the project to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met. Delivery & Timeliness: Complete the recording session(s) within the specified timeline, meeting deadlines for the final product. Ensure all final files are delivered in the required format and to the appropriate specifications. Qualifications: Proven experience as a voice narrator or voice-over artist, preferably with prior audiobook narration experience. Clear, articulate, and engaging speaking voice with excellent pronunciation and enunciation. Strong ability to perform different character voices and adapt to various narrative styles (depending on the project). Comfort with long recording sessions and the stamina to maintain vocal quality over extended periods. Experience with home studio recording (microphone, soundproofing, etc.) or access to a professional recording space. Familiarity with audiobook production software (such as Audacity, Adobe Audition, or similar) and audio file formats. Ability to accept constructive feedback and apply it to improve the final product. Preferred Skills: Strong storytelling abilities, with the capability to create an emotional connection with the listener. Flexibility in narrating different genres, from dramatic fiction to educational non-fiction. Experience with audio editing and post-production (preferred but not required).
