Description:
Project Description: Self-Resetting Liquid Timer I aim to create a product that closely emulates the nostalgic charm of retro "liquid timers," where water droplets travel downward through an intricate obstacle course until they reach a reservoir at the bottom. The key innovation of my product is that it eliminates the need for manual intervention—there's no tipping the unit upside down to restart the mesmerizing display of physics. Instead, I plan to incorporate a pump that continuously pulls water from the reservoir and thrusts it back up, allowing the droplets to cascade down the obstacles repeatedly in a never-ending flow. This design will not only enhance the visual appeal but also create an engaging and dynamic experience for users, showcasing the beauty of fluid dynamics in a captivating manner. The unit will be encased in a clear acrylic enclosure resembling a picture frame, making it suitable for wall mounting in various settings. I am open to the unit being battery-operated for convenience, but I would also consider a USB charging option to provide flexibility in power sources. To bring this vision to life, I am looking for both a designer and a builder who can collaborate on the project. In the past, I have worked with a CAD designer who relied on me to 3D print the CAD files, but I am not very experienced with 3D printing. Therefore, I need someone who can not only design the product but also handle the building and prototyping aspects effectively. To further assist in this process, I am happy to provide a simple sketch of the concept. Referring to my previous experience on this project, I know there were a couple challenges we faced. One of the questions we asked was: How do we ensure there is an opening for some pressure to release inside a closed-loop system. We had a couple ideas which I'm open to discussing if you decide to pursue my project. I'm really wanting to bring this idea to life as it's been in the making for over a year and I've gained little traction since my last interaction with the previous designer.
