I’m the author of four children's books—My Daddy Did It, My Mommy Taught Me about Microaggressions, My Aunties Daily—and I'm looking for a creative, self-motivated marketing expert to take charge of my book marketing efforts. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about children’s literature to play a significant role in bringing these books to a broader audience! Key Responsibilities: Social Media Management: Set up and manage Instagram and TikTok accounts for the books. Create engaging posts (including visuals, captions, and hashtags) to drive awareness and sales. Develop content strategies to consistently grow the social media following and engagement. Outreach to Organizations: Research and identify schools, libraries, children’s organizations, and other relevant groups that may be interested in purchasing the books (both locally and nationwide). Handle outreach efforts by crafting compelling emails, proposals, and presentations to potential buyers. Negotiate and secure bulk book orders for educational purposes, community organizations, and more. Community Engagement: Interact with followers on social media through comments, DMs, and interactive content to maintain engagement. Track and analyze performance metrics to continuously optimize strategies and campaigns. Content Creation: Develop and manage content creation (photos, videos, and graphics) that aligns with the books' messaging and appeals to children and parents alike. Ensure that content is fun, educational, and shareable on platforms like Instagram and TikTok. Marketing Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy focused on both short-term and long-term goals. Implement paid advertising strategies (Facebook, Instagram) to boost reach and visibility. Explore partnerships with influencers, bloggers, and other content creators to further promote the books. Compensation Structure: Hourly Rate: Competitive but lower than typical rates, to reflect the role of an intern or part-time freelancer. Commission-Based Pay: In addition to the hourly rate, you’ll receive a commission for each sale or bulk order generated through your efforts: Commission on Book Sales: Earn a percentage of increase sales directly through social media campaigns, affiliate links, or sales generated by outreach efforts. Commission on Bulk Orders: A higher commission percentage for successfully securing bulk purchases from schools, libraries, or other organizations. Ideal Candidate: Experience: Background in digital marketing, social media management, or PR (experience in children’s book marketing is a plus). Skills: Strong communication and outreach skills to approach potential buyers and organizations. Creative: Ability to create engaging content on Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms. Self-Starter: Capable of taking full ownership of the project and executing independently. Passionate: Enthusiasm for children’s books and helping to spread important messages like family, race, and social awareness. Timeline and Commitment: This is an ongoing, part-time project. I’m looking for someone to start as soon as possible and take full responsibility for the marketing strategy and execution. This role offers flexibility in terms of hours, and you'll have the freedom to work at your own pace, but I expect a commitment to regular check-ins, goal-setting, and performance tracking.
