This is not a basic internet research role—you must be experienced in behavioral health regulations and payer operations. Project Scope: Approx. 120 hours Research and document payer and state regulatory guidelines related to behavioral healthcare. Map specific requirements such as: Allowed credentials for documentation Required timelines for assessments, treatment plans, reviews, and other milestones Utilization of ASAM Criteria, LOCUS, and McMillan Care Guidelines Deliverable: Organized Excel spreadsheet with all parameters, rules, and timelines sourced directly to definitive documentation (provider manuals, state regulations, etc.). Who We’re Looking For: Deep knowledge of behavioral health, including licensing, payers, and clinical frameworks like ASAM, LOCUS, and McMillan (MCG), Interqual. Strong understanding of how to read, interpret, and cross-reference payer manuals, state regulations, and Medicaid bulletins. Comfortable picking up the phone to call state agencies or payers to verify ambiguous points if needed. Exceptional attention to detail and love for accurate documentation. Skilled in Excel and tracking structured data. U.S. only – must be familiar with U.S. healthcare systems and regulations. This Role Is For You If: You are relentless in finding the right source, not just the first source. You know where to look (state Medicaid manuals, payer sites, accreditation agencies, etc.). You’re comfortable confirming gray areas by contacting appropriate agencies or representatives. You understand that ChatGPT won’t cut it—this requires real expertise.
