Introduction and Background New York State Ornithological Association (NYSOA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the study and conservation of birds in New York State. Our mission is to promote the enjoyment, understanding, and protection of birds and their habitats through education, research, and advocacy. To enhance our online presence and better serve our members and the public, we are seeking proposals for the relaunch of our website. Scope of Work The selected consultant will be responsible for redesigning NYSOA's website template – including the NYS Young Birders Club website (nysyoungbirders.org) – to create a more user-friendly and visually appealing online platform. The scope of work includes but is not limited to - Assessing the current site to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement - Developing a new website design that reflects NYSOA's mission and values - Implementing a responsive design to ensure optimal viewing across all devices - Utilizing WordPress - Applications such as event calendars, online store, member login portals, and donation platforms, others online forms synced to cloud spreadsheets. - (optional) Providing training for NYSOA volunteers on content management and website maintenance Timeline - Proposal Submission Deadline: May 30, 2025 - Selection of Consultant: Summer, 2025 - First Review of New Design Template: September 30, 2025 - Testing of Staging Site: October 30, 2025 - Website Re-Launch Deadline: January 1, 2026 Budget The budget for this project is flexible and will be based on the proposals received. Consultants should provide a detailed breakdown of costs in their proposals. Qualification and Requirements - Demonstrated experience in website design and development, particularly for nonprofit organizations - Strong portfolio showcasing previous website redesign projects - Knowledge of best practices in user experience (UX) design and search engine optimization (SEO) - Excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with the NYSOA team Proposal Guidelines Interested consultants are requested to submit a detailed proposal that includes the following information: - Work samples of previous website projects - Experience working with other nonprofit organizations - Timeline of work - Pricing table with a breakdown of costs - Options for training, technical support and/or post-launch maintenance
