This role is for someone who thrives in a fast-moving startup environment, is willing to roll up their sleeves and build, and can bridge the gap between electrical engineering, software development, and mechanical system design. As the first engineering team member at Rhoic, you will have a direct impact on our core technology and play a critical role in shaping the company’s future. You’ll lead the development of our high-voltage system, design how firmware and software interact with our technology, and guide the mechanical integration needed to bring it all together. We’re looking for someone who sees engineering not just as technical problem-solving, but as a tool to help people and solve meaningful problems at scale. ## What You’ll Do: - Lead the end-to-end development of Rhoic’s core technology, from prototyping to deployment. - Direct mechanical system development, working with prototyping tools (e.g., 3D printing, 8020, bent sheet metal). - Develop firmware and software to interface with our system, integrating high-speed digital communication, industrial automation, and control logic. - Own PCB design and layout, power electronics, and industrial testing. - Establish and implement best practices for engineering, safety, and reliability in a high-voltage industrial setting. - Work hands-on in the lab to build, test, and iterate on designs quickly. - Collaborate closely with leadership on strategic decisions and long-term technology roadmaps. ## What We’re Looking For We know the best candidates don’t always check every box, but if most of these describe you, we’d love to talk: ### Must-Haves (Core Requirements) - Expert in end-to-end mechanical system design, from concept to scale-up, with deep proficiency in CAD (Fusion, SolidWorks, Onshape, etc.) and a track record of building robust, manufacturable assemblies for automation and high-throughput environments. - Deep understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals with the ability to apply them hands-on. - Proven ability to design and implement automated electromechanical systems, integrating sensors, actuators, and control systems for scalable, reliable operations in advanced manufacturing. - Experience collaborating with fabrication houses, ensuring design for manufacturability (DFM) - Comfort using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, HV supplies) and mechanical prototyping (8020 frames, sheet metal, 3D printing). - Able to program microcontrollers or single-board computers for sensor data acquisition, control loops, or communications. - Willing iterate rapidly, pivot, and solve problems that pop up unexpectedly. - This is a deeply hands-on lab environment. You’ll be building and testing hardware in real time. ### Nice-to-Haves - Experience designing and building HV systems (10kV+).
