Hourly: $55.00 - $90.00

We are seeking a highly skilled Contract Infrastructure Engineer to assist with the critical task of restructuring our network infrastructure post-acquisition. Over the past several years, we've completed a number of acquisitions, and as a result, we currently operate more than 20 separate networks. We need to consolidate these into a unified infrastructure under a single domain. This role will also include extensive reconfiguring of firewalls (Sonicwall, Fortigate) and switches locally, as well as VeloCloud setups for each site. We are looking for a strategic thinker and hands-on technical expert to help design and implement a robust, secure, and efficient network environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Windows networking, domain architecture, and server management in addition to deep expertise in security and network firewalls. Key Responsibilities: Network Integration & Domain Consolidation: - Design and implement a strategy to migrate and consolidate 20+ separate domains into a single, unified domain. - Work closely with internal teams to ensure minimal downtime and smooth transitions during domain migrations. Windows Server Management: - Oversee the configuration, management, and optimization of Windows Server 2012 across the organization. - Address any issues related to Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other critical server roles. Network Security & Fortigate Firewalls: - Leverage your expertise in network security to ensure all systems and networks remain protected during the migration process and beyond. - Implement, configure, and optimize Fortigate firewalls to secure perimeter defense and internal network communications. Troubleshooting & Optimization: - Provide high-level troubleshooting support and optimize network performance for various locations across the country. Documentation & Knowledge Transfer: - Document network configurations, policies, and best practices to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization. - Conduct knowledge transfer sessions with internal IT staff to ensure they are equipped to manage the new environment post-project. Key Qualifications: - Proven experience with Windows networking and Windows Server 2012 environments (ideally in large, multi-site organizations). - Expert knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other domain-related services. - In-depth experience with Fortigate firewalls and network security best practices. - Extensive experience designing, implementing, and securing enterprise-scale network infrastructures. - Strong understanding of network protocols, VPNs, and security practices (including but not limited to ACLs, IDS/IPS, encryption). - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. - Prior experience in merger/acquisition environments with network integrations is a huge plus. - Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to solve complex issues in a high-stakes environment. Why Work With Us: - Impact: This is a high-profile project that will have a lasting impact on the network infrastructure of a growing national network. - Flexibility: As a contractor, you will have flexibility in terms of hours and work location (remote work possible, on-site visits possible). - Challenge: You will have the opportunity to work on a complex, multi-faceted project with room to showcase your expertise and problem-solving abilities. Project Duration: Estimated contract duration: 6-12 months with the potential for extension based on project needs. To apply: Please provide the following with your application: - A detailed resume highlighting relevant experience. - A brief overview of your approach to network integration projects, especially in post-acquisition environments. - Case studies of similar projects you’ve worked on.
