Job Title: Remote Accountant to support Controller at Law Firm Job Type: Freelance / Part-Time Location: US Remote Level: Entry to Mid-Level Overview: We’re a Missouri-based law firm focused on class action litigation, and we’re looking for a reliable, detail-oriented accountant to support our Controller. Our work involves helping everyday people stand up to large corporations—so behind-the-scenes accuracy, consistency, and ownership are key. This is a remote role, ideal for someone early in their accounting career who thrives in a self-directed environment and is ready to take ownership of their work. What You’ll Do: - Work independently and take full ownership of assigned accounting responsibilities is imperative - Assist with general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, and monthly reporting - Manage accounts payable and receivable - Track and categorize expenses - Help maintain accurate and organized financial records - Coordinate closely with the Controller on ongoing tasks and ad hoc projects What We’re Looking For: - Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or actively pursuing one) - 1–3 years of accounting experience - Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and other accounting tools - Strong attention to detail and organizational skills - Ability to manage tasks independently with minimal supervision - Comfortable with remote work, clear communication, and meeting deadlines - Experience with legal accounting, IOLTAs or trust accounts is a plus (not required) Ideal For: - Freelancers or part-time professionals looking for steady, remote work - Recent graduates or early-career accountants seeking hands-on experience - Highly organized, self-motivated individuals who can run with tasks and follow through Hours & Rate: - 10–20 hours/week to start, with potential to grow - Standard working hours with some flexibility - Hourly rate based on experience
