Job Title: Grant Writer Job Type: Contract / Freelance Location: Remote Overview: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Grant Writer to develop a compelling and compliant grant application. This grant supports programs that provide vocational and life skills training for individuals who are incarcerated, under parole or probation supervision, and up to 18 months post-release. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of reentry programming, community-based support services, and evidence-based approaches to vocational and life skills development. Experience with criminal justice populations and government grants is highly preferred. Key Responsibilities: Review the Grant Solicitation, eligibility requirements, and priorities Collaborate with program leadership to gather necessary information, including program goals, participant demographics, service delivery model, staffing, outcomes, and evaluation strategies Write a comprehensive, strengths-based grant proposal that aligns with requirements, objectives and community reentry frameworks Create or refine required documentation including budgets, narratives, organizational qualifications, and sustainability plans Ensure the proposal meets all formatting, submission, and deadline requirements outlined in the RFP Provide regular progress updates and incorporate feedback from stakeholders Qualifications: Proven experience writing successful grants for government, for profit, or nonprofit organizations (experience with correctional, reentry, or workforce development programs strongly preferred) Knowledge of vocational training, life skills education, and reintegration support for justice-involved individuals Strong writing, research, and organizational skills Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly with leadership Familiarity with the criminal justice system and community-based service networks is a plus Timeline: This is a time-sensitive project. The selected candidate must be able to begin immediately and complete the full grant submission by April 4, 2025. Compensation: Negotiable based on experience and scope. Fixed project rate or milestone-based structure preferred.
