Walker has been using SPSS code to extract data from a SQL reporting database for many years. Each month we extract service data from our electronic health record database and format what is needed for the funding school district (LEA) to submit for Medicaid reimbursement. All students are enrolled in the Walker Day program, about half are also enrolled in the Walker Residential program. Students who are fully funded by their school district can be reimbursed for therapeutic services in the Residential program, while students who are not funded by a school district are not eligible for Medicaid reimbursement in either the Walker Day or Residential program. In addition to pulling data from multiple tables in the SQL database, the existing SPSS code performs three other functions: 1. Pulls diagnostic information saved in a spreadsheet on Walker’s network drive by child and service type 2. Reformats the name of the employee who delivered the service with their certification and, if not licensed, who their supervisor is 3. Enters the appropriate billing code based on service type, which program delivered the service (Walker Day or Residential) and whether the service was delivered individually or in a group. The final result should be a CSV file with each eligible service on its own line, listing the students name and identifying numbers followed by the funding school district and the specific service data with the above inserts and transformations.
