Request for Proposal: UX/UI Website Refresh for HeadCount.org 1. INTRODUCTION HeadCount.org is a nonprofit organization dedicated to engaging young people in democracy through music, culture, and technology. We are seeking proposals from experienced UX/UI design firms to refresh our website's look, feel and accessibility. The primary objective is to create a scalable, innovative, and mobile-friendly platform that effectively conveys complex information in an accessible way, tailored to a youth-oriented audience. Additionally, the project must include seamless integration with DatoCMS to manage and deliver dynamic content efficiently. Most users find HeadCount’s website because an artist, brand or cultural leader has promoted the organization. Once the user has arrived, HeadCount’s website serves two purposes: 1. Marketing tool, providing information about the organization and its partners; 2. Digital organizing tool, hosting campaigns, voter actions, a volunteer sign up portal and voter information resources. The UX/UI refresh should focus on connecting these two purposes and reducing friction for the user. HeadCount will provide a brand book with approved color schemes, fonts and associated philosophy to the designer. 2. PROJECT OVERVIEW Our website plays a critical role in empowering young people with the tools and knowledge they need to participate in democracy. The refreshed website should: - Be optimized for mobile devices, prioritizing a mobile-first approach. - Provide an engaging and innovative design that resonates with younger users. - Simplify access to complex data and resources while maintaining clarity and usability. - Support the integration and efficient functioning of DatoCMS for dynamic content management. 3. SCOPE OF WORK The selected vendor will be responsible for: - Use existing internal research, and conduct a lightweight discovery project to understand the needs of young audiences to take action and learn about voting. - Developing wireframes and prototypes for mobile and desktop tailored to mobile usability and visual appeal. - Provide hifi designs of each type page. - Creating scalable design elements to allow for future website growth. - Enhancing user navigation to simplify complex information into bite-sized, digestible formats. - Improve information architecture for higher conversions rate, focusing on the user journey. - Interface with developers as needed to ensure DatoCMS integration for seamless content management and delivery. - Performing usability testing to ensure the website meets accessibility standards and exceeds user expectations. 4. BEST PRACTICES TO FOLLOW To ensure success, the refreshed website must: - Be visually appealing with vibrant, dynamic design elements. - Include interactive features such as polls, quizzes, or gamified experiences. - Ensure fast load times for an optimal user experience. - Feature straightforward, accessible language and organized content hierarchy. Integrate social media links and sharing capabilities. - Design should meet accessibility standards. Incorporate feedback gathered through user testing with the target audience. 5. PROJECT TIMELINE The proposed project timeline is as follows: Proposal Deadline: April 30, 2025 Vendor Selection: May 15, 2025 Research & Discovery Phase: May 20, 2025 Wireframes & Prototypes Completion: June 30, 2025 Final Delivery & Launch: July 30, 2025 6. EVALUATION CRITERIA Proposals will be evaluated based on: Experience with youth-oriented and nonprofit projects. Creativity and innovation in design. Expertise in mobile-friendly UX/UI builds. Proven ability to simplify complex information into clear visuals. Integration experience with DatoCMS or similar platforms. Adherence to deadlines and project milestones. 8.
