We need a linux expert who can set up a PXE server to support network-based installs of Linux distributions. This should also implement a boot menu that allows the install to be redirected to an existing Windows deployment server. This new system will sit in front of the current Windows Deployment Server, but still be able to redirect traffic to that server based on a menu entry. For linux installs we will often be doing very basic installs and then expecting a user to take over the install process from there. We will be deploying this system onto a Proxmox host on the network. We are looking for someone to help design and implement a Linux based PXE server to facilitate network based installs of Linux distributions. This will need to give us the ability to deploy based off of some pre-configured cloud-init type configurations, but it can’t be just full server images as the hardware to be installed will vary greatly. We ideally also need to have this setup be able to allow us to boot and add other tools such as memtest, disk wiping tools, etc. This system will be deployed via a Proxmox host on the network, but will also need to be able to give us a path that allows us to redirect any host to a different PXE instance or existing Windows deployment server for systems that we do not want to run via Linux. This project will be ongoing for maintenance and updates after the initial deployment with opportunities for changes and additions as needed. Ability to build and configure a network server for network based installations of Linux distributions, including but not limited to Ubuntu, Debian, Red Hat, Rocky, Alma, etc Support for automatic/unattended installs via cloud-init or comparable methods Generate a boot menu with options on what distribution or tools to launch Desire to be able to boot other tools via the network such as memtest Will also need to be able to point a system back to a different Windows Deployment server Ability to document procedures for updating images and tools as needed Ongoing maintenance and updates as needed/requested Can be designed using existing tools such as FOG, iPXE, kickstart, etc
