Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer with a strong background in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Snowflake. The ideal candidate will design, implement, and optimize data pipelines and architectures that support our clients’ analytical and business intelligence needs. This is a remote position; however, candidates must be based in the USA and available to work on a contract (non-W2) basis. Key Responsibilities: • Data Pipeline Development: Design and develop scalable ETL/ELT processes to ingest and process large datasets from diverse sources into Snowflake. • Data Modeling: Create and maintain efficient data models, ensuring optimal performance and accessibility for end-users. • Cloud Infrastructure Management: Utilize AWS services (S3, Glue, Lambda, EC2, Redshift) to build and manage cloud-based data solutions. • Performance Optimization: Monitor and enhance the performance of data systems, including query tuning and resource scaling. • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams (data analysts, data scientists, business stakeholders) to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business objectives. • Data Quality Assurance: Implement data quality checks and monitoring processes to ensure data accuracy and reliability. • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Required Skills and Qualifications: Technical Proficiency: • Advanced SQL and Python programming experience. • Strong expertise in Snowflake, including data warehousing concepts, performance tuning, and cost optimization. • Hands-on experience with AWS services such as S3, Glue, Lambda, EC2, Athena, Redshift, Kinesis, and Step Functions. • ETL/ELT processes, including Airflow, dbt, Talend, or similar tools. • Experience working with structured and unstructured data, data lakes, and real-time data streaming. • CI/CD pipelines and automation experience using Terraform, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins. Data Engineering & Modeling: • Experience designing data warehouses, star/snowflake schemas, and dimensional modeling. • Expertise in optimizing queries and managing large-scale datasets. • Familiarity with data governance, compliance, and security best practices. Soft Skills: • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. • Experience leading projects and working in agile environments. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with Apache Airflow for data orchestration. • Knowledge of data cataloging and lineage tools such as AWS Glue Data Catalog or Alation. • Certifications in AWS (AWS Certified Data Analytics, AWS Solutions Architect) and Snowflake.
