Reports To: Head of Digital Type: Retainer-based Contract (Set Monthly Hours) Location: Remote Position Overview: We seek a highly skilled and reliable Web Developer to support our in-house Head of Digital on a retainer basis. This role will primarily focus on WordPress website development and maintenance and assist with integrations and enhancements that support marketing, membership, and content delivery goals. The ideal candidate will have deep WordPress expertise, a strong understanding of digital best practices, and the flexibility to adapt to various web-related tasks. Key Responsibilities: - Develop, maintain, and enhance websites built on WordPress (themes, page builders, plugins, etc.) - Support the integration of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Association Management Systems (AMS) as needed. - Collaborate closely with the Head of Digital on-site architecture, functionality planning, and implementation. - Ensure optimal site performance, responsiveness, accessibility, and security. - Troubleshoot issues and bugs proactively identify areas for improvement. - Assist in launching new microsites, landing pages, and campaign-related site updates. - Keep plugins, themes, and WordPress core updated safely and routinely. - Support SEO best practices and site performance optimization - Work within brand guidelines and UX/UI standards Required Skills & Experience: 8+ years of professional experience in web development, with a strong emphasis on WordPress Proficient in HTML5, CSS3, PHP, JavaScript, and MySQL Experience building custom WordPress themes and plugins Deep familiarity with WordPress page builders (e.g., Elementor, Bricks, Gutenberg) Strong understanding of cross-browser compatibility and responsive design Experience integrating third-party systems, including LMS (e.g., LearnDash, Moodle) and AMS platforms (e.g., iMIS, NetForum, Personify) Comfort with staging environments, version control (e.g., Git), and task tracking (e.g., Trello, Asana, or Jira) Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks across multiple clients/projects Clear, proactive communicator Nice-to-Have Skills: Experience working with nonprofit or association clients Familiarity with GA4, Tag Manager, and other analytics tools Knowledge of ADA compliance and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 A, AA) Basic design skills or familiarity with tools like Adobe, Figma or PenPot Familiarity with marketing automation tools and how they integrate into websites (e.g., Mailchimp, HubSpot, Higher Logic) Working Arrangement: This is a retainer-based contract role with a flexible monthly hour commitment. Must be available for check-ins and occasional real-time troubleshooting during standard working hours Long-term partnership potential for the right candidate
