Job Title: Senior Network Engineer (AWS & Cloud Expertise) – Time & Materials Location: Anywhere in US/Canada Job Type: Contract (As-Needed Basis) Overview: We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer with expertise in AWS, cloud networking, and site-to-site VPNs to join our team on a time and materials contract basis. This role will be on an as-needed basis, allowing flexibility for the right candidate to support various networking projects, troubleshoot complex issues, and provide expertise for cloud network integrations as they arise. Your primary focus will be on configuring and maintaining secure, scalable network infrastructures connecting on-premises servers to AWS and other cloud environments. Key Responsibilities: Cloud Network Design & Integration Provide ad-hoc expertise in designing, implementing, and supporting cloud network infrastructures, particularly AWS environments integrated with on-premises servers. Assist in the configuration and optimization of AWS VPCs, VPNs, Direct Connect, and Transit Gateways, ensuring seamless connectivity. Site-to-Site VPN & Hybrid Network Solutions Troubleshoot and support the configuration of site-to-site VPNs, ensuring secure and reliable communication between on-premises and cloud environments. Support and enhance hybrid networking solutions to scale with the growing needs of the organization. Network Optimization & Monitoring Provide guidance on optimizing network performance and troubleshooting issues as they arise across cloud and on-premises environments. Assist in monitoring network performance and implementing security practices to ensure reliability and minimal downtime. Security & Compliance Support Ensure that security measures (encryption, firewalls, IAM policies) for cloud and on-premises networks align with organizational standards and compliance requirements. Recommend improvements for network security and assist in the implementation of best practices. On-Demand Troubleshooting & Support Offer remote support for network-related incidents, troubleshooting complex networking issues and resolving them quickly. Provide high-level troubleshooting assistance for both cloud and on-premises systems, as needed, to minimize service disruption. Documentation & Knowledge Transfer Document network configurations, issues, and solutions for future reference. Offer on-demand knowledge transfer and support to internal teams on networking best practices for cloud and hybrid environments. Qualifications: Experience & Education: 7+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering, with a strong focus on cloud technologies, particularly AWS. Proven experience in configuring and troubleshooting site-to-site VPNs, Direct Connect, and hybrid cloud network solutions. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Technical Skills: Expertise in AWS networking services, such as VPC, VPN, Direct Connect, Route 53, and CloudWatch. Strong experience with site-to-site VPNs (IPsec), BGP routing, and cloud-based networking architectures. Experience with networking protocols (BGP, OSPF, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and cloud security best practices. Familiarity with network automation tools (Terraform, Ansible) and cloud-based monitoring tools. Certifications (Preferred): AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional. Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent certifications.
