GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION The Documentation Specialist & Technical Writer is responsible for producing simple, engaging, and high-quality documentation such as policies, procedures, manuals, job aids, and forms to help ensure a consistent end-user experience for all CGi employees. This individual will be working with our subject matter experts (SMEs) and other internal stakeholders to recommend a standardized documentation format that is easy to maintain, review/edit existing documentation and assist in writing new documentation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Analyze business processes to determine documentation requirements. • Gather information through research, SME interviews, source documents, and review of existing documentation. • Determine the clearest and most logical way to present information for greatest reader comprehension. • Write various types of documentation, such as operational procedures, manuals, job aids, forms, and reference guides. • Update, edit, and improve existing documentation based on current CGi writing standards, quality, and style guidelines. Convert the materials into the current templates when necessary. • Produce new documentation for electronic publication that comply with CGi standards on language, writing style, structure, and format. • Organize, publish, and maintain documents in SharePoint (or similar document management systems) in such a way that information is easily accessible. • Interface with internal clients to gain insights on how information is consumed by the audience, and then determine efficient ways to present and deliver such information. REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS • Three or more years of experience as an effective technical writer • Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter • Experience in writing documentation and procedure manuals for various audiences • Superb written communication skills with a keen eye for detail • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously • Must be flexible and have ability to interact with all levels in the organization
