Expert Consultant Needed for State and Local Tax Compliance

We are seeking an experienced State & Local Tax (SALT) consultant to provide flexible, hourly support across a range of state income, franchise, and related tax matters. This individual will serve as an embedded resource supporting multiple businesses, working directly with finance teams to manage filings, conduct nexus analyses, resolve audits, and identify planning opportunities. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on practitioner with strong technical skills who can operate independently, navigate complex multi-state issues, and step in wherever needed—from compliance to controversy to voluntary disclosures. This consultant will interface with CFOs, controllers, and accounting staff, offering both strategic guidance and day-to-day execution. A CPA designation and at least five years of SALT-specific experience are required, with preference given to those who have worked in both public accounting and corporate settings. This is a remote role, offering project-based flexibility and the opportunity to make an immediate impact across a diverse set of operating businesses.
