Shadow Realm Productions is seeking passionate, committed, and purpose-driven creatives to join our independent short film project, Amongst the Shadows—a powerful narrative rooted in healing, transformation, and the emotional journey of facing one’s inner world. This is more than just a film—this is a movement. Amongst the Shadows explores generational trauma, spirituality, shadow work, and personal alchemy through a poetic, visually rich lens. We’re building a cast and crew that believes in the impact of storytelling as a tool for healing and awakening. We’re currently hiring for the following roles: Casting: • Lead Actor – Freya (Black woman, Mid to late 20s): A soulful, emotionally layered character navigating grief, identity, and self-discovery. • Supporting Actor – Neco (Black woman, late 20s - early 30s): Grounded, fierce best friend offering wisdom and emotional depth. • Supporting Actor – Henry (Black man, late 40s–early 50s): Freya’s father, complex and emotionally conflicted, carrying unresolved trauma and regret. • Supporting Actor – Janet (Black woman, mid to late 40s): Freya’s mother, spiritual and emotionally restrained, clinging to faith. • Supporting Actor – Kyron (Black man, early 30s): Charismatic but wounded ex-lover, showing both tenderness and toxicity. • Additional small roles (extras, vision characters, background actors). Crew Roles: • Director of Photography (DP) • Assistant Director • Production Designer / Art Director • Sound Mixer / Boom Operator • Lighting Technician / Gaffer • Hair & Makeup Artist (special attention to natural Black hair & minimalistic styling) • Costume Designer / Wardrobe Stylist • Editor (Post-Production) • Production Assistant(s) • Music Composer/Producer • Animator • VFX/SFX Artist • Social Media Manager Ideal Collaborators: • Have a deep respect for artistic storytelling and themes of trauma, healing, and personal growth. • Are open to co-creating a safe, intentional space on set where emotional vulnerability and artistic authenticity are honored. • Are reliable, communicative, and passionate about indie filmmaking. Ideal Collaborators: • (Bonus) Have experience working on films centering underrepresented voices and spiritual/psychological narratives. Production Timeline: TBA – Filming will begin once pre-production is finalized. Applicants should have flexible availability and willingness to collaborate during the planning process.
