Description: We are looking for an experienced Active Directory technician to assist with a domain migration from a local .com domain to a .local domain with minimal disruption. Our current setup includes: • 1 Domain Controller (Windows Server 2008 R2) • 2 File Servers (Windows Server 2012 R2) • 2 Hypervisors (Windows Server 2021 R12) FS1 Beyond Compare - used to compare file structures Printer Shares (may cause print delays if keeping the same functionality but on the cloud) FS2 BarTender 2016 R9 - used for making Labels, Barcodes, RFID Autodesk Asset Locator - CAD software Autodesk CAD Manager Tools - CAD software Autodesk Network License Manager (!) - CAD software DC VMware - appears defunct, I am unable to connect to this server looks like it was only used for backups before Datto Windchill PTC - should be on the cloud, check in with Nate Drake or Sasha Johnson regarding this WoodWOP XP - VM on the Hyper-V Some application but too slow to investigate in full, more info needed from Nate Drake or Sasha Johnson HV1 VMware - appears defunct, I am unable to connect to this server looks like it was only used for backups before Datto based on a log on the server HV2 nothing, purely HV host Migration Plan: • Create a new domain controller for Contoso.local • Establish a trust relationship between Contoso.com and Contoso.local • Duplicate user accounts on the new domain • Set up DFS between the two domains • Migrate users one by one from Contoso.com to Contoso.local • Decommission Contoso.com after the migration Requirements: • Extensive experience with Active Directory and domain migrations • Ability to plan and execute a seamless migration with minimal service disruption • Expertise in DFS and domain trusts • Availability to be on standby during the deployment phase to assist with troubleshooting or issues that may arise • Users can not feel interruptions while migrating If you are a senior technician with a proven track record of successful domain migrations, we’d love to hear from you.
