Title: Experienced Technical Designer with Speciality in Activewear and/or Swimwear. Mid-Size & Plus experience is a must. Need: Create detailed specifications (Spec Sheet) for x2 Swim Unisuit Designs. Description: We’re an emerging active swimwear brand designing performance bodysuits for women with curvier body types. Our pieces are built for movement—kayaking, surfing, swimming—while offering compression, support, and comfort. We’re looking for an experienced technical designer (ideally with swimwear or activewear expertise) to help translate our existing tech pack into a fully detailed spec sheet, focused initially on a custom base size for prototyping and fittings. What we need: - Review of our existing tech pack (design sketches, construction details, fit intent) - Creation of a base size spec sheet with measurements, for our mid / plus-size range, with grading that respects the unique needs of curvier bodies - Support with prototype fittings, and ongoing refinement of specs based on fit feedback - Collaboration with our team as we test and iterate on the design Final deliverable: Custom graded spec sheet (Excel or Google Sheets), ready to hand off to our manufacturing partner. Note: We’re not looking to simply scale up regular sizes for plus. Our plus-size designs will be built around pear-shaped fit models, with thoughtful attention to body proportions like fuller thighs and hips, smaller waists, and varied torso lengths. Experience with body-inclusive grading—especially for athletic or swim garments—is a big plus. While we do plan to expand into both regular and plus sizes, we’ll begin fittings using a single sample size to establish our base. From there, we’ll use those insights to inform future grading. What we don’t need: - Pattern making or sample development—we’ll handle that directly with our factory Ideal experience: - Technical design background in swimwear, activewear, or lingerie - Deep understanding of fit and compression fabric behavior - Prior experience grading for both standard and plus-size bodies - Familiarity with pear-shaped and curvier fit considerations - Detail-oriented, communicative, and collaborative - Comfortable working closely with a founder-led team and adjusting specs based on real-time feedback Please include: - Examples of prior spec/graded size work and previous brand experience - A short note on how you approach plus-size grading and designing for pear-shaped bodies - Your availability and estimated timeline - Open to hourly or project-based—please include your preferred rate and structure when applying.
