Public Relations Specialist (DC/Maryland Area) for Public Art Launch - Flat fee + commission

$3.00
Fixed price

Description: We are seeking a Washington DC/Maryland–based Public Relations professional to lead a targeted media and guest outreach campaign tied to the premiere of a public art installation by an internationally recognized artist, debuting in early June 2025 and intended to spark national interest in the art and its message. This is the launch of a larger public art series that blends technology, sustainability, and visual storytelling. The piece will be unveiled at a prominent location in the area and your work will directly support efforts to expand its reach — including potential sales, commissions, and future city partnerships. ⸻ Scope of Work: • Develop and distribute press materials (in collaboration with the artist) • Pitch to select media contacts in arts, design, public space, and civic culture • Invite and coordinate attendance from high-value guests — curators, civic leaders, cultural institutions, potential patrons, and commissioning partners • Act as a connector between the work and new audiences — with the goal of catalyzing future projects and sales • Be available during the core promotional window from late April through early June ⸻ Compensation: • Flat fee: $3,000–$4,000, based on experience and reach • Commission-based incentive tied directly to sales: Open to negotiating a percentage of any commission / purchase that results from a direct introduction, to be defined in writing. Example: 2-5% of confirmed commissions or art purchases that stem from your contacts or event invitations ⸻ Ideal Candidate: • Based in or with strong ties to the Washington DC/Maryland region • Background in public art, cultural campaigns, or event-based media strategy • Well-connected in media, curatorial, or public art networks • Comfortable blending strategic media work with real-world guest coordination • Respectful of discretion and collaborative with an artist-led team ⸻ Timeline: • Start planning: Late April 2025 • Unveiling event: Early June 2025 • Engagement: ~4–6 weeks total, flexible hours but reliable presence ⸻ To Apply: Please include: • A brief note outlining your relevant experience and network • Examples of press placements, media campaigns, or guest turnouts you’ve led • Your proposed flat fee • Any thoughts on how you’d approach a sales-based commission structure • Confirmation of your availability in May and June, and ability to attend the event in person Further details about the artwork will be shared with shortlisted candidates under confidentiality.
