Job Title: Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Location: Remote (Preferred: East Coast U.S.) Compensation: Equity + Compensation Upon Capital Raise Company Stage: Pre-Seed | Deep-Tech | Energy Storage About Us: We are an early-stage startup developing next-generation lithium-ion battery anodes using halloysite-silicon composites. Our goal is to unlock the full potential of silicon anodes—high capacity, long life, and supply chain resilience—by leveraging naturally occurring U.S.-mined halloysite. We’re backed by experienced policy and strategy professionals and are now assembling a world-class technical team to build and validate lab-scale prototypes and prepare for pilot production. Position Overview: We are seeking a visionary and execution- oriented Chief Technology Officer to lead our R&D, prototyping, and technology roadmap. The CTO will be responsible for developing, validating, and refining halloysite-silicon anode materials and translating lab results into scalable commercial solutions. This is a hands-on, strategic leadership role ideal for someone with deep expertise in battery materials and a passion for building something transformative from the ground up. Key Responsibilities: • Lead the scientific and technical strategy for halloysite-silicon anode development • Design and oversee lab-scale prototype development and testing • Source, vet, and manage relationships with academic and national lab collaborators • Translate technical findings into investor-ready data and milestones • Build and lead the R&D team (employees and contractors) • Oversee IP strategy in collaboration with external patent counsel • Support grant writing, pitch materials, and technical due diligence • Engage with the CEO and founding team to align technical roadmap with business goals Qualifications: • PhD or equivalent experience in materials science, electrochemistry, chemical engineering, or related field • Deep expertise in lithium-ion battery systems, especially anode materials (silicon, Si-C, SiOx, or related) • Experience with lab-to-pilot scale translation and materials characterization methods (SEM, TEM, XRD, etc.) • Proven ability to lead R&D teams and deliver against milestones • Excellent communication and data storytelling skills for investor and partner presentations • Start-up experience preferred; entrepreneurial mindset required • Familiarity with DOE, DOD, or NSF research programs a plus Compensation: This is a founder-level role with a meaningful equity stake and performance-based compensation tied to milestones and capital raised. You’ll be a core part of shaping the technology and future of the company.
