Icare 21st Century Initiative CCNA Instructor for High Schools Part-time: (15 hours a week) Schedule: M-F 8:30am start time Term Employee: (Not to exceed 8 months with an option for multi-year renewal) Salary: up to $125/per hour Expenses covered: Travel between schools for gas/tolls/parking (TBD) Program Overview A NJ Public School District has contracted to start a pilot program to teach the CCNA certification to qualified 10th and 11th graders for the 2024-2025 school year. This program uses the Cisco Networking Academy to deliver in-person instruction to students in three select high schools. The program has already begun and is currently being delivered by qualified personnel. We are looking to hire additional staff to augment this program and continue teaching the CCNA curriculum via NetAcad to the students. Job Summary A NJ Public School District has partnered with Cisco Networking Academy to offer high quality instruction to high school students in Grades 10 and 11 and 12. We are seeking an exceptional CCNA Instructor to teach this new program. The instructor will be responsible for providing instruction to students in alignment with standards set by the Cisco Networking Academy and the NJ Public School District leadership. The instructor will receive ongoing technical support and professional development from an Academy Support Center and Instructor Training Center. CCNA Course Overview The CCNA v7.0.2 (Cisco® Certified Network Associate) NetAcad v1.1 curriculum introduces the networking elements that connect users, devices, applications, and data through the Internet and across modern computer networks. The course covers switching technologies and router operations that support small to medium business networks, and describes the architectures and considerations related to designing, securing, operating, and troubleshooting enterprise networks. The instructor will be required to teach the following three-part series: ● CCNA-1: Introduction to Networking (ITN 70 hours) to Grade 10/11 ● CCNA-2: Switching, Routing and Wireless Essentials (SRWE 70 hours) to Grade 11/12 only ● CCNA-3: Enterprise Networking, Security and Automation (ENSA 70 hours) to Grade 12 next year Responsibilities and Duties ● Provide in-person instruction at 3 NJ public high schools 5 days a week for up to 3 periods a day ● Observe and evaluate students’ assessments and study habits to determine progress and make suggestions for improvement ● Establish clear objectives for all lessons and communicate those objectives to students ● Adapt teaching methodology and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and abilities ● Use pedagogical techniques to effectively convey networking concepts/commands to various students ● Implement multi-modal teaching methods to ensure students are actively engaged and participating ● Provide Program Manager and School Staff with weekly attendance and progress reports ● Stay current with networking industry trends and provide real-world examples of concepts/methods ● Collaborate with Academy Support Center and Program Manager and School Staff to resolve any classroom issues or instructional challenges ● Communicate regularly with School Staff and Program Manager using professional emails and notes ● Work and collaborate with assigned classroom teacher to record daily attendance and manage students ● Attend and participate in occasional program meetings and status checkpoints Required Qualifications/Education and Experience ● Must possess a CCNA certification or higher ● Must be accredited by Cisco to instruct CCNA curriculum through a Cisco Networking Academy ● Must have taught previous CCNA courses via the Cisco Network Academy ● Must be familiar in using the Cisco NetAcad LMS platform ● Must have in-person experience instructing via Cisco NetAcad in a physical classroom environment ● Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills ● Must be personable and presentable and approachable to staff and students ● Must have hands-on experience using Cisco ISR router and Catalyst switch equipment ● Must be very knowledgeable with Packet Tracer to complete course labs and curriculum activities ● Must be comfortable with Windows 11 Pro and the command prompt ● Must have hands-on experience with using Wireshark, PuTTY, SSH and Telnet ● Must have experience using Google Classroom and Google Docs/Forms ● Must have valid driver's license with access to a working vehicle ● Must submit to fingerprint check and health screen
