Online Course Development and Canvas LMS Management

The Program for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) at the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy is seeking an experienced and motivated professional with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the field of instructional design and e-learning development. You will be responsible for the design, development, and oversight of online courses (Spanish and Portuguese) using Learning Management Systems (LMS), primarily Canvas. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in instructional design principles, adult learning theories, and a comprehensive understanding of LMS management. You will be expected to collaborate with subject matter experts, faculty members, and other stakeholders to create high-quality course materials that meet the needs of our learners while adhering to best practices in online education. While proficiency in English and Portuguese is a plus, fluency in Spanish is a must. This is not a contract-to-hire opportunity. The individual should expect to work approximately 10 days/month for a period of 12 months. (One day equals eight hours). If pre-approved by Lincoln, 60 additional days could be added within the 12-month period if additional work requires extra days. The maximum number of days that can be worked under this agreement is 180. Please send examples of your work and include your hourly rate in your application. Key Responsibilities: Course Administration • Draft vendor contracts and calendars for payments and deliverables. • Oversee course and training timelines to ensure on-time delivery. • Serve as liaison with external partners and institutions. • Organize and participate in meetings as needed. • Maintain an annual project calendar in Asana. • Support the preparation of materials for senior management as needed. Instructional Designer • Collaborate with staff, subject matter experts, and faculty on course design and delivery. • Develop course outline, learning objectives, learning assessments, activities, and bibliography. • Create instructional materials (videos, presentations, infographics, etc.). • Apply learning theory to enhance engagement and comprehension. • Manage and maintain Lincoln’s LMS (Canvas), including user access, content structure, and module design. • Provide technical support and tutorials on the use of platforms such as Canvas, Zoom, Teams, and Mural. • Create and manage registration forms and evaluation surveys. • Collect and analyze course data to inform improvements. • Issue certificates of completion when needed. The Lincoln Institute of Land Policy seeks to improve quality of life through the effective use, taxation, and stewardship of land. A nonprofit, private operating foundation whose origins date to 1946, the Lincoln Institute researches and recommends creative approaches to land as a solution to economic, social, and environmental challenges. Through education, training, publications, and events, we integrate theory and practice to inform public policy decisions worldwide. We organize our work around three impact areas: land and water; land and fiscal systems; and land and communities. We envision a world where cities and regions prosper and benefit from coordinated land use planning and public finance; where communities thrive from efficient and equitable allocation of limited land resources; and where stewardship of land and water resources ensures a livable future. We work globally, with locations in Cambridge, Massachusetts; Washington, DC; Phoenix, Arizona; and Beijing, China. https://www.lincolninst.edu/
