Description: Rad Dad Alternative – a premium hemp-derived THC, CBD, and nootropics gummies brand – is seeking a seasoned Shopify Plus developer/strategist to optimize our new e-commerce site’s user experience, SEO, loyalty program, and analytics setup. This project is essentially an “online grand opening,” and we need an expert who can polish our store for prime time and help drive monthly revenue from $3k to $10k+. About Us: We’re a high-end alternative wellness brand with a retro vibe, offering legal THC and CBD gummies, mushroom blends, and more. Our mission is to provide “feel better” solutions (for sleep, focus, relaxation) as alternatives to alcohol, pharma, etc. We have a physical boutique in Baton Rouge and a Shopify Plus online store that’s just launched. Now, we want to ensure our online experience is top-notch and scalable. Scope of Work: We have a comprehensive audit (already conducted) with specific recommendations. Key areas the expert will focus on: • 1. UI/UX Design & Implementation: Refine the homepage layout (improve navigation, CTAs, mobile layout) and product pages (better image displays, sticky add-to-cart, reviews section, etc.). Optimize for mobile-first responsiveness and fast load times. We want a frictionless browsing and checkout experience that reflects our brand’s premium yet fun identity. Example tasks: Add intuitive menu for product categories, tweak theme for faster loading, ensure CTAs like “Shop Now” are prominent, implement accordion tabs on product info. • 2. On-page & Technical SEO: Improve site SEO to increase visibility on Google/Bing and prepare content for AI search engines: • Optimize meta titles, descriptions, and headings with our target keywords (THC gummies, sleep gummies, alcohol alternatives, etc.). • Ensure all images have alt tags; add structured data (JSON-LD for products, FAQ schema). • Set up proper URL redirects/domain canonicalization (we have multiple domains, need to pick primary). • Create a scalable approach for adding new content (blog posts, etc.) with SEO best practices in mind. • Bonus: Experience with content writing or briefing writers on CBD/hemp topics is a plus (though not required to write content, should be able to implement SEO tweaks to content). • 3. Klaviyo Email Marketing Setup: Configure and fine-tune automated flows (abandoned cart recovery, welcome series for new subscribers, post-purchase thank-you/review requests, and win-back campaigns). Segment the audience (e.g., by purchase history, loyalty tier) for personalized messaging. We will provide content ideas and copy drafts, but need your expertise in technical setup, integration (e.g., ensure Shopify events sync to Klaviyo, coupon codes work, etc.), and optimization (proper scheduling, exclusion logic to avoid overlap). Prior experience designing high-converting email templates and flows in Klaviyo is required. • 4. Loyalty Program (Smile.io) Optimization: Audit and adjust our Smile.io setup. We want to incentivize repeat business and referrals: • Set up points-for-purchase ratios, referral rewards (“give $10/get $10” style), points for leaving reviews, and possibly VIP tiers. • Integrate loyalty info into site (launcher, points display on product page) and into Klaviyo emails (like “You earned X points” notifications). • The expert should configure and test these rules, and ensure it’s user-friendly. • If you have experience increasing engagement with loyalty programs (Smile.io or similar), that’s a big plus – e.g., suggestions for promotions like double points events. • 5. Analytics & Tracking: Implement tools for tracking full customer journey: • Set up Hotjar or Microsoft Clarity and show us how to glean insights from heatmaps/recordings. • Ensure Google Analytics 4 is properly integrated (e-commerce tracking, conversions, referral exclusions, etc.). We’d like to track the impact of our email campaigns, loyalty usage, and even referrals from new AI search platforms. • If possible, configure GA4 or other tools to track ChatGPT/Bing Chat traffic (LLM referral traffic), or at least advise on how to recognize these new sources. • In summary, help us get the data we need to continually optimize (you won’t be on the hook for ongoing analysis, but we want the setup to be robust and maybe a quick coaching on using these analytics). Deliverables: • Optimized and updated Shopify theme (liquid/CSS/HTML as needed) meeting the above UX & SEO requirements. • Active Klaviyo flows and email templates for the defined scenarios (abandoned cart, welcome, etc.), tested and functional. • Configured Smile.io program with our input on reward values – tested for earning and redemption. • Analytics tools installed and working (we can see sessions in Hotjar, events in GA4, etc.). • A brief handover documentation or call to walk us through any new features or how to maintain things (e.g., how to add a blog post keeping SEO in mind, how to adjust an email flow if needed). Qualifications: • Proven Shopify (Plus) development experience – you know how to customize themes and have a keen eye for modern e-commerce design (especially mobile UX). Please share examples of Shopify stores you’ve built or optimized, particularly in retail or regulated industries. • Strong understanding of SEO (liquid templating for meta tags, schema markup, site structure optimization) – any case studies of ranking improvements are welcome. • Klaviyo expertise – show us if you’ve built high-performing automated flows or can point to ROI from your email strategies. • Familiarity with Smile.io or similar loyalty apps – ideally you’ve configured loyalty or referral programs before. • Comfortable with analytics – GA4 (required) and tools like Hotjar (nice to have). You don’t need to be a data scientist, but implementation and basic interpretation should be in your wheelhouse. • Bonus: Experience in the hemp/CBD/cannabis e-commerce space. Understanding the marketing limitations and customer behavior in this niche can save us time. If not, willingness to research compliance-friendly solutions is necessary (e.g., knowing that traditional PPC is out, so focusing on SEO, email, affiliate is key). • Fluent in English communication – we value someone who can not only do the work but explain their approach clearly. Why This Project? You’ll be instrumental in the success of a unique wellness brand at a critical launch phase. This isn’t a boring replatform or maintenance job – it’s a chance to implement best practices from the ground up and see a direct impact on a business scaling 3x+. We are collaborative and open to ideas – if you have suggestions beyond our audit, we want to hear them. Good work could lead to an ongoing relationship (future feature development, perhaps a Phase 2 project for a custom app or more content). Timeline & Budget: We are looking to start ASAP. Our target is to complete the major tasks within ~4-6 weeks (earlier is fine too!). We have a budget in mind (mid four-figures) but are willing to invest in quality for this foundational phase. Please include a quote or hourly rate and an estimate of hours for the scope as described. We’re open to a fixed-price contract for clearly defined deliverables or hourly with a cap.
