We’re looking for an experienced Google Apps Script developer to help finish and polish our simple Quote Manager system—a web app that automates personalized email quotes based on customer submissions. This project is for a small catering company aiming to ease the workload of generating quotes for customers. While the project isn’t urgent, we expect the work to be completed within 2 to 4 weeks. We personally developed a fully operational web app ourselves, but when we tried editing it to be more mobile friendly, the system broke and we haven’t been able to correct it—simply put, we’re not programmers. The bulk of the work is almost done; we just need someone to finish it and polish it. Project Background & Context: • Current System: • A dashboard interface that displays pending quotes. • A review page where quotes can be modified, approved, or flagged. • A login system and deployment helper scripts. • Spreadsheet Integration: • Data is pulled from a “Form Submissions” sheet (via a Gravity Forms webhook) and processed on the “Quote Calculator” sheet. • The “Quote Calculator” sheet uses ARRAYFORMULA functions in row 2 to perform calculations. • Manual price overrides in the app have been causing conflicts with these formulas (resulting in #REF! errors). • Recent Changes: • The app was migrated to a Single Page Application (SPA) approach to resolve blank page navigation issues. • When we attempted to make it more mobile friendly, the system broke and now the dashboard remains stuck on “Loading quotes…” without displaying pending data. Scope of Work: 1. Fix Dashboard Loading Issue: • Diagnose and resolve the issue where the SPA dashboard remains on “Loading quotes…” without displaying any data. 2. Resolve Spreadsheet Formula Conflicts: • Implement a solution that allows manual price overrides without breaking the ARRAYFORMULA calculations in the “Quote Calculator” sheet. • Options may include only updating raw input cells or triggering controlled recalculations. 3. Mobile Optimization: • Redesign the dashboard (and any related interfaces) for a mobile-first experience. • Convert the current table view into a card view or another mobile-friendly layout that supports one-handed usage on devices like iPhones, while still performing well on desktop. 4. Enhance Comments Feature: • Ensure that any “Add Comments” input on the dashboard properly injects a personalized section into the outgoing customer email. • The email should include a dedicated section acknowledging the customer’s original comments and the staff’s follow-up notes. Requirements: • Proven experience with Google Apps Script development, especially building web apps and SPAs. • Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and responsive design. • Experience with Google Sheets integration and troubleshooting ARRAYFORMULA issues. • Ability to work with existing codebases and detailed project documentation. • Clear communication skills and the ability to provide complete, step-by-step instructions for any code changes. • Must be able to deliver complete updated files (artifacts) rather than inline code snippets. Deliverables: • A fully functioning SPA that loads pending quotes correctly. • A robust fix for spreadsheet formula conflicts when manual price overrides occur. • A mobile-optimized user interface that delivers a clean, intuitive experience. • Enhanced email generation with a working comments feature. • Detailed documentation and step-by-step guidance for any changes made. Timeline: This is not an emergency project, but we expect the work to be completed within a few days after project acceptance. We’re looking for someone who can work steadily and efficiently to polish and restore the nearly finished web app that was operational just a few days ago.
