Trang Construction Co. – Bethesda, MD Trang Construction Co. is a rapidly growing construction management and general contracting firm specializing in government and military contracts. We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Construction Estimator to lead the preparation of accurate and competitive cost estimates. This role is crucial in ensuring the financial feasibility and success of our diverse government projects. Position Overview As a Construction Estimator, you will be responsible for: Developing detailed cost estimates, analyzing project plans and specifications Collaborating with vendors, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure competitive pricing Identifying risks, proposing cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring compliance with federal procurement regulations Preparing bid packages for government and military projects. Key Responsibilities: Review and validate estimates to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements. Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and ensure resource availability. Evaluate subcontractor bids, negotiate terms, and make recommendations for selection to project teams. Utilize Takeoff estimating tools and be familiar with Houzz Pro or other estimating software. Oversee the preparation of detailed cost estimates, factoring in materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor pricing. Conduct thorough analysis of project plans, specifications, and requirements to identify potential risks, cost-saving opportunities, and value engineering solutions. Develop and maintain bid schedules, ensuring alignment with project timelines and deadlines. Interact with clients to clarify project requirements, present cost estimates, and address concerns. Ensure compliance with federal procurement regulations, prevailing wage rates, FAR, and DFARS. Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines. Ideal Candidate Profile: Proven experience as a Construction Estimator in government and military projects. Strong analytical and negotiation skills with the ability to assess subcontractor pricing and project risks. Experience with construction estimating software and databases (Houzz Pro, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, etc.). Familiarity with federal procurement regulations and government contracting processes. Knowledge of prevailing wage rates, FAR, and DFARS compliance. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work within tight deadlines.
