Dropbox upload API on ESP8266

I have a datalogger that is built on an esp8266 platform. I program them in Arduino. It records medical sterilizer cycle data and uploads the files to Dropbox. It has worked well for a few years. Dropbox has changed their access tokens from a hundred or so characters to over 1300 characters. Their claim is it needs to be open ended there is no upper limit or fixed number of characters. My program cannot handle the upload it is able to get the access token but once it tries to make the API call to upload a file it fails. I have hit the limits of my knowledge and need someone who knows what they are doing. I have a number of customers that are less than pleased at the moment.
