Title: Grant Writer Needed to Launch Groundbreaking Inmate Mental Health & Crisis Hotline (Washington-Based Nonprofit) Description: We are seeking a passionate and experienced grant writer to help launch a transformative nonprofit initiative that will provide incarcerated individuals with confidential access to mental health crisis support, live intervention counselors, and AI-assisted chat tools. Our organization is in the early stages of development and is focused on establishing Washington State’s first inmate-accessible mental health and crisis intervention hotline. The service will offer confidential support for mental illness, substance use disorder, trauma, sexual assault, and emotional distress. Our goal is to provide direct, compassionate, and immediate support to those most in need — especially those often forgotten behind bars. We are looking for a grant writer who can: Research and identify relevant local, state, and federal grant opportunities (e.g., DOJ, SAMHSA, HHS, state mental health funds, criminal justice grants) Write compelling grant proposals, LOIs, and funding applications aligned with our mission Create a comprehensive grant funding strategy for short-term launch and long-term sustainability Collaborate with the founder to gather necessary data, budgeting info, and program goals Assist in drafting supporting documentation (e.g., executive summary, program narrative, staffing model, budget) Ideal Candidate Will Have: Proven experience writing successful grants for nonprofit organizations, especially in mental health, corrections, social justice, or crisis services Familiarity with SAMHSA, HRSA, DOJ, VOCA, and other public funding sources Ability to write clear, concise, and persuasive proposals Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, substance use intervention, and mental health services is a plus Passion for social impact and criminal justice reform Deliverables: A list of at least 10 relevant grants/funding sources 1–3 full grant proposals and LOIs written for submission Strategic grant calendar with submission deadlines Budget narrative (collaborative with founder) Optional: Assistance preparing 501(c)(3) documentation (if not yet complete) Project Scope: Location: Washington State-based initiative with national scalability Duration: Initial engagement 4–6 weeks with potential for long-term collaboration Compensation: Competitive, based on experience — please include your rate and past success metrics in your proposal NDA & IP Agreement required before interview This is a rare opportunity to be part of a groundbreaking program that will save lives and change the way incarcerated individuals access support.
